Welcome to the Multiliteracies Wiki
This is a project of the Center for Adolescent Literacies at UNC Charlotte. Drawing on the work of The New London Group (1996), we seek to advance what it means to be literate by expanding our understanding of literacies and texts.
We acknowledge that there are many ways to think about adolescents' literacies, we have developed the following actions as themes to organize our ideas:
• Researching
• Communicating
• Collaborating
• Exploring
• Creating
• Sharing
In order to provide a starting place for content area teachers, we have taken the tools provided above and given specific suggestions on how they might be used by subject:
Additional ideas, tools and links to other information:
We invite you to view this site and make suggestions for additional content. This site is maintained by the Center for Adolescent Literacies at UNC Charlottein Charlotte, North Carolina but is truly a collaborative effort with much help from K-12 educators and others.

I posted the NC Reading Literacy Strategic Plan in the Additional Information folder. You can download and read that document from there.

We've also added a Netiquette Guide and brief PowerPoint we used on day one of the Going Digital workshop in the Additional Information folder.

I added links to the Creating page that have free copyright pictures. Some are digital and some are clip art, but they are free to use in your classrooms if digital cameras are not yet an option in your building. I also added a book resource for digital pictures to the "books and articles" page. Just ran across them! Hope you are all enjoying your summers.

Hi Bruce,
I know we keep talking about it, but should we start putting up some of our own published work related to adolescent literacies, much like other centers (some of the past) have done? We could set a goal of late fall for this. K
