Frankenstein WebQuest

Page history last edited by Jessica Miller 8 years, 9 months ago

This WebQuest is geared towards high school aged students who are already a little more experience with researching the internet and working with different platform mediums. While this specific Lesson Plan is for the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, it can be altered to be used with any novel.  Students will work in groups to research different elements of the novel and will use google docs to store their research.  Their final product will be a compilation of their research on an electronic presentation of their choice (prezi, iMovie, powerpoint, etc).

Assignment:

  • After introducing the student's next novel, Frankenstein, teacher will break off students into 5 equal groups. 4-6 students per group depending on the size of the classroom.

  • After breaking them off into groups, assign each group one of the topics attached to the assignment below.

  • When the groups are assigned their topics, tell them to pick a leader to create a google doc and invite each of the group members, as well as the teacher, to have a location to compile all of their facts they find.

  • Over the next two days, students will work with their groups to create some kind of presentation of their choice: prezi, powerpoint, iMovie, etc to present their information to the class.

  • At the end of two days, groups will present their topic to the rest of the class.  Presentation must be at least 4-6 minutes in length.

  • Assessment will be based on amount/accuracy of facts, quality of presentation, and peer assessment.
