Researching

What is research?

Research is a way of analyzing, investigating, and collecting information in order to gain knowledge, find the resolution of a problem, or to gain a greater understanding of a phenomenon.

Some "Quality" Researching Tools:

Try using some of these tools to research topics like the Holocaust, sharks, and how plants grow to discover a world of valuable information.

  • http://www.google.com/- method of searching the web using advanced search engines; images, map, news, shopping, video, Gmail and more.

  • www.teachertube.com - Online community to share and view teacher videos.  Videos include writers workshop and guided reading groups.

  • www.itunes.com - Includes tutorials, documentaries, videos, and more. Explore podcasts to learn more about sharks and volcanos.

  • www.googlescholar.com - Search for scholarly literature, such as journals, peered- reviewed papers, abtracts, and articles.

  • http://www.askkids.com/Ask.com's equivalent exclusively for young children ages 6 to 12. Children can explore how plants grow and visit the habitats of many animals.

  • http://www.dogpile.com/- Search engine that puts all the leading search engines together for a quicker result.

  • www.dipity.com - A website that allows students to view current events and follow what is taking place. They can also create timelines to share with others.

Heim, I think if we show them where they can download iTunes for free, and then show them how to use it at Shady Brooke, that will suffice. Since we can't link to podcasts, videos, or music, just give them the site they can get it to download for themselves.

Ok. got it for itunes. I will just explain where to go to download it. I think we have a link to that already. I think you could make it another page or could you just make it a link on the TAP page? Also, I tried again to upload a picture with no success. Don't know what I am doing wrong.
