Welcome to the Multiliteracies Wiki

This is a project of the Center for Adolescent Literacies at UNC Charlotte. Drawing on the work of The New London Group (1996), we seek to advance what it means to be literate by expanding our understanding of literacies and texts.

We acknowledge that there are many ways to think about adolescents' literacies, we have developed the following actions as themes to organize our ideas:

•    Researching

•    Creating

•    Communicating

•    Collaborating

•    Exploring

•    Sharing

In order to provide a starting place for content area teachers, we have taken the tools provided above and given specific suggestions on how they might be used by subject:

Additional ideas, tools and links to other information:

We invite you to view this site and make suggestions for additional content. This site is maintained by the Center for Adolescent Literacies at UNC Charlottein Charlotte, North Carolina but is truly a collaborative effort with much help from K-12 educators and others.

If you have questions or comments, you can email Bruce Taylor, Director, the Center for Adolescent Literacies at UNC Charlotte at bruce.taylor@uncc.edu.

Let's reorder the list of six themes at the top. Creating needs to be near the top.
